![]() I tried to delete the app and rolled back to 2.4.1 but that was even worse. I bought a second hand MacBook Pro 13" 2017 model (no touch bar), 16gb RAM, 2.3ghz i5 running Catalina - and installed Audacity 2.4.2 - I cannot believe the slow response of the UX. I think I may have even used it on a Linux Netbook once in 2010, but that can’t be confirmed. I’ve been using Audacity since, sheesh, I can’t even remember - probably going back to late noughties (2006-08 or so), starting with Windows, then when I moved to Mac. I just want you to knowL I am experiencing exactly the same thing! The slow UX is driving me insane. All I can report is performance issues mentioned here are very poor in comparison and obviously nothing is changing with the hardware. This could easily be something I’m missing but I don’t know what. In addition to my initial query I note and have observed that adding a track by dragging and dropping into a blank Audacity Window rarely works and to add it requires going the “long way” via the menu bar…but that’s not for this issue… I use Audacity so much I am going to be forced to reinstall High Sierra in order to get my audio files edited in a timely manner. It’s just so slow and jittery and I really do not understand why. ![]() I find the whole performance speed to be significant compromised in Catalina with the latest version producing ultra slow manoeuvrers, e.g. This issue is with the protracted time it now takes, slow and jittery to move even a few seconds (clearly seen in the video clip) along the waveform in comparison to the smooth slick scrolling I could achieve in High Sierra with the previous version of Audacity. I’m dragging it outside the window in order to move the cursor to where i want to edit, i.e the portion of edit ends further along the wavelength hence dragging outside the window to select the area I want. ![]()
